Splat

Splat

So i had to revive this flower before my dear Splat (name of the vase) had its photo shoot. As i was deciding where to take pictures of this mini vase i had the flower sitting in a cup of water - just floating along (which then gave me another brilliant idea for a future picture) but back to this one. Soon the flower was all perky again and the image capturing took place.

The colors are a pale pink that changes to an off white with speckles at the bottom a bit of pale yellow also peeks out from the off white here an there. The clay is White Stoneware fired to cone 6 and this one measures up to be 1 3/4" Wide at the bottom 1" Wide at the top and 1 3/4" Tall.

This vase is featured in my Spot the Pot Shop

In The Paper

Ok - Like i said these next few days will be pictures of my mini vases! oooo are they not just the cutest? ~7

I finally DID it - i posted this to a little store Spot the Pot Store Geez talk about alot of work... My site is not perfect yet, i'm trying really hard tho.

This one named In The Paper it is a pale pink at the top and a pretty blue hiding a bit of darker blue & brown at the very bottom. The clay is the lovely JB Stoneware and this one only measures up to be 1 3/4" Wide at the bottom 1" Wide at the top and 1 3/4" Tall.

This one has a little Knock Out Rose in it and even tho the rose is a big flower for this little one - it gives it it's all and holds it proud ;-)

Any Other Name

Any Other Name

This will be the first of many pictures of my mini vases that i have made. I figured i better take cute little pictures of them now, while there a flowers in bloom to show off in them. Although the August heat is beating the heck out of all the darling little flowers around here.

This vase is titled Any Other Name because i though in its abstract sorta top - it resembles a rose and that made me think of the sweet lines of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

This is a very small cute vase only standing 2" high and 1 1/2" wide at the bottom 1/2" wide at the top. The clay used here is JB Stoneware, fired to cone 6. The glaze is called David's Blue which is an interesting color of blue & a golden brown mix.

A Flower for Me and One for You.

A Flower for Me and One for You.

Here's a set of tumblers - they have no official names inscribed in the bottom as most of my work does.

They are filled with another of those frosty drinks i made earlier - YUM!

Dormouse

Dormouse

This is my sweet little blue and white african violet sitting quietly in a cute little flower pot of which i made. The flower pots name is Dormouse there are actually a set of 3. They all have african violets in them, however the other two have not bloomed yet - even tho their leaves are pretty and green. ~gift

I did not know how much humidity they liked so the other two were just sitting in regular pots & they didn't flower. So after a year, i finally looked up on the net how to solve the problem. Many helpful sites suggested i needed more humidity so it said to get a small pot but put it in a BIG bottom dish, let it sit above (not in) the water and as the water evaporates it will come up thru the leaves and that should do the trick.

Well - as you can see it worked! I had to make my own little pots and dishes tho b/c i found nothing with a big enough dish for the bottom at the store. Besides that meant i got to pick my own colors! yippie!

My First Apartment 3

My First Apartment 3

Heres the inside of the lid - i was very pleased how the spider came out in this Raku firing. Yeah!

Today is looking up, i have just had Christmas, which is what i refer to getting a lot of pieces out of the kiln. Because i wrap them all in newspaper and then i take them and show them to family and friends and when we do this we unwrap them all, and its like Christmas.

My First Apartment 2

I had a hard time deciding which to post first the inside so you could see the spider or the outside so you could see how cool the crackle glaze looks from the Raku firing looks. Also i was thinking that it could be a bit more fun to see what the whole box looks like.

So as i said earlier this is a little box - i really couldn't decided how to take a photo for this one, to show it off. So i placed it on a one of my many indian silk fabric skirts and let it get ready for its photo shoot. The background color/fabric has been boosted up a bit in saturation & a filter called Wavy Color used on it.

However, the box remains its true colors of white/with a smokey brown and dark grey to black crackles on this little guy. It stands a little over 3 1//4 inches tall and is about 3 3/4 inches across.

My First Apartment 1

This will be sorta a before and after shot of this particular item, which would most likely be used as a little jewlery box. I call them spring boxes b/c i make the texture on top with a spring - of which in this view you don't see. What you are seeing is the inside top of the box and i'm sanding around a spider that i placed inside. Thats why my thumb is all fuzzzzzzy b/c i'm moving.

This piece which is named My First Apartment is called this b/c in my first apartment, i had so many spiders. They really didn't ever freak me out at least they were all downstairs although they were not small i usually only had a spider visit about once every 2 weeks...

Anyway this about to be raku fired & you can see what the finished piece looks like tomarrow ;)

I See You Died

I See You Died

Well this just goes along with how i feel anyway - yes that was a very Eeyore statement, but we all go through rough times. Now would be one of mine.

As some of you may know i was working on a pin-home camera that i made out of clay. There are a series of pictures of I See You - as it was going thru the firing process. As you may have remembered i saved my wheel-thrown pin-hole camera from its first disaster, however when taking it outside to sand the bottom it slipped from my hands & this time it shattered with a big pop as it hit the concrete.

Now its time to sweep up the mess, oh well - time to go make another one.

Fantastic

Fantastic

So as i was looking thru my fellow photo friends pictures, i came across a tasty looking drink, soon after leaving the comment i darted into the kitchen and decided to make my own. i had a package of carmel mix in the cabinet (sorta like a hot chocolate mix) anyway i prepared it using the cold directions and added some ice stuck it in the blender then found my tumbler named Fantastic, poured it on in. Then i grabbed the can of whip topping and loaded it up, along with a couple sprinkles of cinnimon - i never spell that one right.

Anyway i decided it was super cute and should try & get a photo, after seeing all the photos i decided it needed to be a bit more fun. i changed the curves on the whip topping. Then selected the background and used the cutout filter on that... My tumbler however is unchanged the colors are the lovely redish brown & blue - i believe the glaze names are red shino and cornflower blue.
